St Petronella Health Care Initiative
PHCI promotes health awareness, healthy behaviour and timely use of health services in the communities we serve. We work through education, mobilisation and referral, alongside existing community structures, leaders and health workers, to build trusted pathways into care.
We support communities with clear information and appropriate linkage on communicable diseases and other public health threats. During outbreaks and public health emergencies we work with health authorities to connect people to trusted information and services.
We improve community awareness of, and linkage to, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health services. Our work follows families across life stages, supporting antenatal and postnatal care, newborn and child health, and adolescent and reproductive health education.
We treat mental health as part of overall wellbeing, working to reduce stigma and encourage early identification and referral. We build community understanding and connect people to appropriate support, with care for dignity, confidentiality and compassion.
We address the growing burden of non-communicable diseases in the communities we serve, promoting prevention, early detection and healthier daily habits. Our emphasis is on shifting from reactive treatment towards prevention, screening and sustained adherence.
We work to improve access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene while promoting behaviour change that lasts. Infrastructure work is paired with hygiene education and practical community demonstrations, so improvements hold long after a project ends.
We treat menstrual health as a matter of health, dignity and education for girls and women. The programme brings parents, teachers, leaders and adolescents into open community dialogue to reduce stigma and correct misinformation.
We work with VHTs, CHEWs, health workers and other community structures to strengthen health capacity where people live. Training is matched with mentorship, supportive supervision and performance monitoring, so new skills become stronger everyday services.
